Sept. 12, 2011
Today Kris and I move in the house today. Yesterday we went Santa Rosa to buy furniture and appliances. We got sofa, love seat. Chair, dinning room table and chairs, stove ,refrigerator, washing machine, and two beds with box springs for $2600. All to go into a house that I pay $138 a month for rent.
They said it would be here in the morning but of course just like in the states this means nothing. I called about 11 o'clock and they said they had not left yet. So I figured I had some time to get some things in Gracias that I need for the house. They finally got here about 3:30. Now we have a house we can live in..... So we thought
I suppose you want to know why the Man vs Beast....  Well here it is.
Kris and I are sitting at the table and I decided to get something from the bedroom and as I move one of my suitcases a few thing scattered from underneath, about an inch and a quarter long and dark brown. I am thinking we have a Roach problem. Kris and I get the broom and try to get them out of the house... Didn't work. We start looking around and guess what, theres MORE. Kris and I now decide it may be time to get tough. So we call a taxi and hightail  it into town to the supermercado to get some chemical warfare, we then return for the battle. We start to spray them as we see them when we move things. It seemed like we were winning at this point. Now its time to celebrate and watch a movie.
As we watch the movie we each keep glancing at the floor and the walls, all the time trying not to let the others see what you are doing. Then the little grin when  we catch each other. Then we both see one, I think it is a scout. We hit it with the spray and praise each other for a job well done. Then again and yet again, at this point we think possible we did not win the war. We see that they are coming from the door jams. So we run for our chemical warfare and spray the door jams and any other place there is a opening to the wall. Now we are in trouble, they make an all out frontal attack with there little machetes, we are being backed into the corner and we think all is lost when our weapon kicks in and they start to die. We sweep them out of the house and now we high five each other with a bit of apprehension.
We now go back to our movie cautiously.
Now we find one every so often that crawls out looking a bit ill, we are wondering if we really want to sleep here tonight or not. I try to convince Kris it is not a problem now but he does not trust what I say.
We finally goto bed, I sleep well but Kris does not. It is now Tuesday and we will make our final attack with the nuclear bomb. We will get two bombs that penetrate the whole house and we will need to leave for about three hours as it works, then another hour to air the house out.
We will triumph !!!!!!

AND WE COMPLAIN ABOUT GOING TO THE STORE

Monday, September 12, 2011

It started off very good because the tourista only lasted 24 hours, now things are back to normal..
Went down for breakfast and met a gringo who lives in Honduras that knows some rather important people here. He gave me a number of a lawyer to call about my residency papers saying that he would not screw me over because I was a gringo. Things are coming together.

Kris and I decided to go to la Campa to visit our friend Donald. Were going to be cheep today and take the chicken bus there. A dollar as opposed to $15 by taxi.
We got to the bus station and we were early so we hung around the market for a while rather than getting on a hot bus. Got on the bus just before time to leave and we were lucky to get a seat by that time. We were to leave in a short time when Kris pointed out to me that there was a fight going on outside the bus. Two skinny little guys in there late twenties one with a backpack. Not Shure what they were fighting about but it was obvious they were in disagreement about something. Many swings a few hits and some blood from knuckles and facial wounds, looked like more than there actually was. At one point one of them had there finger hooked in the others mouth and was pulling for all he was worth. Thought it might rip , but did not. Neither one of them was a good fighter as Kris pointed out. The onlookers as well as the police just watched the action as though it were a chicken fight. Did not see any betting though. From the bus it was quite an event even though they are probably see this often. Kris and I were on the side of the bus that the fight was happening as well as the the otherside of the bus, thought the bus was going to fall on its side. One man in the bus did not have a good view so he slid along the top of the seatback to get to the window. Not sure what ended the fight but it was now over. The show was over so the bus can leave now. As we left though one of the men that had been in the fight tried to hop a ride on the ladder on the back of the bus, we had to stop again now to remove him with a stern scolding from the drivers assistant.

Now we are on the way finally. Now for some fun. The man sitting next to me was a small man in a yellow long sleeve shirt which was a little dirty, with a grey backpack and a bottle of coke. As he started to talk with me I realized by his breath that eh was drunk or he was drinking kerosine. Thought I was going get a hangover just by listening to him.. He was a talker. I think he was saying that his wife was in the hospital and he was going home to get some money or maybe he wanted money from me? He kept rubbing his thumb and his first two fingers together indicating money. We went along on this subject for a while then he changed the conversation   ( I use the word conversation loosely ) To the esatios unidos , the united states. Every so often during the conversation he would unscrew the top of his coke bottle to take a drink. After each time he would do this the smell of something highly flammable would become much more prominent. I do not think what he had in the bottle was simply coke???
Well during the conversation I kept telling hi I did not know not know enough Spanish to converse with him well. But he kept going. So I figured I would do the same, he spoke in Spanish and I in English. We each kept this up for the rest of the trip without interruption.
We finally arrived at out destination and as I got off the bus with Kris so did another. As I looked back to wave at my new friend on the bus the man who got off with us was relieving himself on the side of the bus. Only here in Honduras.
