I finally decided on what i would get for transportation. Thought about a car but it seems that you can not find a good used car here, and if you did get a car it is expensive to repair. So i got a Honda 125cc bike for $1200. I have seen familys of four riding on simular bikes. Also i have a neighber who delivers eggs on one... he will leave with a eggs piled about two feet high on the back and another foot and a half sitting on the gas tank in front of him. It is an all purpose bike.
This is our new friend "Ear's"
When he first started to come around he would stand at the entrance of our yard and bark, if you were to look at him he would run away, but if you ignored him he would come into the yard but not get near at all. Over the time of about 3 weeks and a little food we were good friends. But it was all in very small steps. At first he would only take food you would throw to him, then he would come closer and closer till you could hand him the food, still could not touch him. Then as you feed him you would cautiously touch his snout and again over time you could touch his head. Now about this time you could pat his sides or back but only if you used your foot. This gradually progressed to the point we are at now.
Our drunk little friend
One day i waved to this man walking his bike down the road. This all he needed to become our new best friend. He first came to me and was talking in barley a whisper and making some odd motions with his hands. He kept talking even though I told him that i could not understand him. He smelled of very strong body odor mixed with some sort of cheep alcohol of which he had a small bottle in his hip pocket. I think it was his best friend.
When i could satisfy him with what ever he wanted , he then went to Kris sitting across from me at the table on the porch. The same routine continued with Kris but Kris could not entertain him any longer so he went in to the house to get about a dollor and a half in american quarters. Kris gave these to him and he produced a very large grin on his face and waved goodbye.
Thought it was over till a few days later he was passing by again and did not even need me to wave at him this time. Same routine this time except i knew what he wanted. to make the story short i would not give him any money, so again he goes to Kris on the other side of the table near the front door. As he crouched down to talk to Kris he fell into the doorway he was so drunk. Kris left at this point so i went into the house and put some peanut peanutbutter on a cookie and gave it to him. He ate it but i get the feeling this is not what he wanted. I then said goodbye and went into the house as i told him to have a nice day. We really do pick up the strays..
Here are some of our other friends coming over for dinner.
The following are a few more photos that I hope you will enjoy. I will try to get back with you sooner next time.
